Family photography
A family session is planned around the children rather than around a shot list, because a family with small children will not stand in a line for more than a few minutes.

Most families want one large photograph for the wall, and alongside it a set that genuinely shows what the family looks like this year. Those two goals need different work, so the session starts with the organised photographs while everyone is still calm, and then moves into the free part.
An open location works well for large families, and home works well when there is a baby or children who need familiar surroundings. The two can also be combined.
What the coverage includes
- The photograph that stays on the wall
- An organised set of the whole family, photographed at the start of the session while everyone is still fresh.
- Large families
- Experience with large families, including breaking the session into groups of siblings and of generations.
- At home or outdoors
- A session at home using natural window light, or at an open location at an hour chosen for the light.

Questions about family sessions
What if the children will not cooperate?
That is part of the work. The session is built so that the organised photographs happen first, and afterwards the children are free and the photographs arrive on their own.
Can you photograph three generations in one session?
Yes, and it is one of the most requested sessions. It helps to plan the order of the groups in advance so the grandparents are not left waiting.
How long is a family session?
Between one hour and ninety minutes. With small children it is better not to run longer than that.
